Update: Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 is available right now on PS4. Following the release of an extensive list of patch notes, the update is now ready to roll. Fair warning, however — it's just over 44GB in size. Make sure you have plenty of storage space free so you can get it downloaded. For details on what the patch does, see below for the official patch notes.
Original Story: We don't need to tell you that Cyberpunk 2077 launched in quite a state, but yeah, it kinda did. CD Projekt RED's long-awaited sci-fi RPG was lamented upon arrival for a vast range of glitches, bugs, and poor performance — particularly on PlayStation 4. Since its release in November, the developer has been hard at work to improve the experience, with the promised patch 1.2 to be the first major update. Well, it looks as though it'll be worth the wait.
After a delay, it looks like patch 1.2 is very nearly here. The studio has published the patch notes for the impending update, which is "coming soon" to all platforms. You may want to set aside some time to read all the changes, because the list is seriously enormous.
We can't go through absolutely everything here, as there's too much to note, but there are dozens and dozens of improvements and fixes that touch basically every aspect of the game. Bugs related to gameplay, the open world, presentation, cinematics, UI, and more are addressed in this patch. It also includes performance improvements that make a notable difference, especially on "last generation consoles and lower performance machines". Lots of PS4-specific fixes are included in the update too, such as not being able to drop items from the backpack, fog rendering issues, glitching corpses, and much more.
You can check out the full list of fixes in patch 1.2 through the link. If it really does make all these improvements without adding anything on top, Cyberpunk 2077 might seem like a different game afterwards. Obviously we need to wait until the thing is installed and we can see for ourselves, but this is a good sign.

Absolutely bonkers list. Topping it off with "And many more." O_o
I'm going to sound really mean for saying this, but does anyone care at this point?
It's cool that they are doing bug fixes and stuff, but they simply can't fix the broken core aspects of the game without overhauling the thing from scratch.
I'd honestly forgotten this game even existed. Couldn't care less what they do or don't do now.
Moved on from this particular car crash long ago.
@munkholt Was about to comment that lol. Even they know the list is ridiculous. Goodness knows what the patch size will be
... what's truly unbelievable is how they could release it so broken.. there really needs to be laws against it.. consumer protection, etc. absolute shambles.. and everyone thought Empire of Sin was bad.. 🤣
This patch should've never been this massive and CDPR knows it.
Oh plenty of people care including me. This is a game I plan on playing once I have a PS5 but if it runs better on a PS4 then perhaps I'll get it sooner.
@Divergent95 I still care, not defending them but I still care about the game. I love the world and characters in it but I'm pissed about what happened and what could've been a possible masterpiece.
Well frankly that's a massive list. They've been busy
Might give it a spin if the PS5 version ever sees the light, but in the meantime... totally lost interest in it.
I mean the first question will still be does it work. But if it does would you consider re reviewing?
Nice, I'll play it after the ps5 version arrive
Edit: Wow the patch notes is massive lol.
@Divergent95 What core aspects do you feel are broken? The only issues I had with it were the times it crashed on me otherwise I thought it was great.
I'm planning to buy it in about 6 months when it's £15 and patched to the same standard it should have been released in.
Played it and seen a couple of endings but in all honesty I think I've seen enough. For all the complaints about the game being unplayable (I played on PS4 and really ran into very few problems) my biggest issue is the game is merely okay. There are things I'd like to do in the game but having played through the whole story and lots of side missions the game just isn't good enough for me to play them again.
@Col_McCafferty. I agree with you playa.but you should wait for the complete edition.when all the dlc is in one package for the ps5.thats a fact black.word up son
I just want the game to not crash every 2-3 hours
Loving the game - playing on a base PS4 and only really had a few graphical bugs and UI issues although before the first two patches it was admittedly horrendous. These bug fixes will be a huge help but the game is the most immersive and involving I've played in a long time. It's Blade Runner the game -the best depiction of a futuristic city I've seen. It puts the likes of Watch Dogs to shame in terms of quality and gameplay. I'll get it again when I eventually get a PS5 (glutton for punishment lol)
@FatalBubbles I think we all have that one bad game that despite all the flaws, we enjoy and defend lol.
As for the flaws, it's a longer list than the patch one xD
Basically it's the A.I, empty and lifeless open world, poor side quests, linear story with no choices etc.
Good! We really got a "Alpha version" at launch! Let's see if with this update the game will be finally back on PSN store
I care and don't. I'm happy they are working hard to fix the game but I probably won't loop back to it for a while. I didn't actually have too many technical issues either when I was playing, the main thing was the game itself didn't really grab me like I thought it would. I kind of doubt I'll restart it before getting a PS5 at this point.
If, in two years, it has had some sort of NMS style renaissance, then I may pick it up for a tenner just to see what all the fuss is about.
@ShiningStar Not even on a 50% sale in a few months time?
Insane patch notes. Wonder if it'll be enough for Sony to reinstate it on the PS Store? Guess we'll need to see how much it improves the game.
after CD Projeck Red got universal aclaim with The Witcher 3, they got too greedy with Cyberpunk 2077, a patch can't fix this problem.
@Col_McCafferty same. I played the first few missions and enjoyed it but decided to wait for it to be polished. This will be a decent game once it’s fixed.
@Giancarlothomaz I think people forget that the Witcher 3 was also incredibly buggy and badly optimised on release too. It wasnt as bad as CP2077 granted, but it was still very buggy and wasnt ever really in great shape till the first DLC came out.
Im glad they're fixing it.. but im just going to wait till the PS5 version releases before getting back in to it (was only about 15 hours in on the PS4 Pro anyway)
Very good to see this stuff getting fixed. I can see myself picking this up in a year or so, when it's cheap, fixed and 100 times better than people experienced at day one.
Can also see me being wowed by it and having a good impression left on me regarding CDPR. Perhaps that's what makes this worth while for them? Yes people have been burnt and will inevitably refuse their next game (#deliberatly glances towards Bethesda#) but others like me, which are probably still the majority, can be saved and kept on board going forwards?
No one should be praising CDPR for this. It never should have happened in the first place.
Some of those fixes are pretty hilarious.
"Fixed an issue where the urinary stream could still be visible after NPC stopped peeing and moved away from the spot."
Good that they are fixing the game i think by the time i can buy a PS5 a real optimised fixed version will be available hopefully. Just like with the Witcher 3 im happy i waited for the complete edition.
Too bad the game will still suck. The bugs and performance aren't the only thing that made it terrible.
The patch note is longer than those diablo 3 patch notes in which they detailed every single item and skill modification, except these are bugs, not balance adjustments. I wonder if this makes the game playable
It will be my 2022 GOTY.
@get2sammyb i believe no. Sony will require more than this))
Also, CDPR pissed them off VERY hard, so I do not expect Sony to take it easy.
@Blacksmith1985 if the game runs a little better and no longer crashes every half hour, it should be enough for Sony
the quality of the game itself is not their concern, really
Kinda tldr stuff.
I just hope it fixes the game to enjoyable play
Will test it out about 3 weeks after patch release I'm sure there will be fixes for the fixes
No one cares, it doesn’t fix the crashes.
I struggled through it on a base PS4 and found it mostly enjoyable, I only encountered A few game breaking bugs but it did get pretty choppy in places. Now I have a PS5 and I don't know if it's worth playing again from the start. I'll get that bloody Katana from the roof at the beginning for a start....
I hope this helps...but I doubt it. They’ve lost too much goodwill.
@get2sammyb insane indeed. Hopefully fixes the crashing issues tho i cant recall seeing that in the list(its massive so probably oveelooked it) Also i remember one of you on the site having your progression halted in a mission. Was that mentioned in the patch notes?
Such a shame it ended up being an absolute state, fixes are one thing, reputation damage is something completely different.
Imagine if they had have just released the game purely for PS5 and XBX.....
I was planning on starting a new playthrough soon (as I missed something missable in a quest). Looking forward to it. Aint reading the entire list but doing a search for minimap it doesn't appear they fixed one of my biggest complaints to zoom out the minimap while driving
The most important update: "Cat food needed to adopt Nibbles can now be bought at several food shops around Night City."
I played it once on my PS5 and loved how it looked in comparison to my PS4. I’ll be playing it after this patch to a certain point then I’ll wait for next gen update.
Reckon we’ll get a next gen update timeline in due course if they’ve been this busy recently!
@Col_McCafferty do you have a Pro or OG/slim? I finished CP2077 on a ps4pro and had a blast. The game ran fine, the only problem being occasional crashes (the game's checkpointing was helpful to not lose any progress even with those crashes).
Oh, yeah, a "tiny" detail: I played it off of an ssd ... forget it on a standard hard drive.
@Medic_Alert this. All this talk about technical issues just played into CDPR's hands. No one is talking that what we got has very little to do with what was advertised for years.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game a lot. Did not ask for reimbursement and will play it again once ps5 visual upgrades are available, but let's call it how it is. The game delivered is at best, at best Rage2 in cyberpunk settings (well, not even that but you know what I mean, it's open world, there is no living cities and the fps is enjoyable and allows for creativity during fights... although Rage2's enemy AI is eons ahead).
@solocapers yeah I'm glad am not the only one who remembers teleporting roach etc then again roach's AI is still garbage to the point I run everywhere lmao 😂🤣🏃
I mean, they kinda did fix the Witcher 3 on PS4 after like 2 years and dozen patches.
@TheDudeElDuderino nah, base PS4. I guess I'm going to have to wait a bit longer before playing this game.
😒
Depressing that this likely wont change the game on the disc being absolute trash on the ps4. Will this ever be incorporated on the disc itself?
This is a game I will get on a bargain sale many years from now after it is complete, all the dlc is released and there are no longer any more patches for it.
Shame too. Enjoyed my time with the Witcher 3 complete edition. Was looking forward to this. Thankfully I was too busy playing other games at the time so I didn't get it release day.
Damn that is a REALLY big list but like for those who read entire thing, is this just about going to fix some major bugs and issues or did it miss some stuff?
And are we expecting some better FPS possibly on PC?
OK I found it
Improved stability and performance of the engine and the rendering engine (reducing the number of random crashes).
Memory optimizations and memory management improvements in various systems (reducing the number of crashes).
Various optimizations and improvements in shadows, shaders, physics, workspot system, spawn system, scene system, animation system, occlusion system, and facial animations system.
So ideally can we expect some FPS boosts potentially?
Wow, hopefully this gets the game in much better shape on PS.
Finished it on PC (were most people ended up at) Fantastic game, and a must play.
Cant wait for extra content
Cool. will probably still wait for a couple more patches. I'm not in a rush. Especially with Mass Effect releasing soon. I' think I'll dig into that one for a while.
Even running well, the game isn't super impressive IMO. It's an okay action FPS and hardly a true RPG, the game world is very attractive but mostly vapid. I had fun with the 10 hours I put into it but I don't intend to pick it back up any time soon.
I hope that people that enjoyed it or were waiting on it, are going to be able to play it as the developers intended but I get the feeling that even once the game is patched up, it's not going to attract a whole lot of new customers.
I just hope that the PlayStation version specifically doesn't crash anymore after this patch. I know Sony really drew the short stick on this one.
I got the game for Xbox One (I had an Xbox One X - now have a Series X) and I was able to play it from start to finish with only one progress-breaking bug (that was fixed with a simple reload) and maybe a small amount of minor glitches (no more than weird bugs in a Bethesda RPG).
I really loved characters and the story. I do plan to return to Night City to take care of more side quests and picking a different ending because I really enjoyed the world. I may also do an entire replay as a female so I can romance Judy.
@Fyz306903 I pondered on your question and actually no, I don't think even a 50% sale would coax me back. That's said as someone who at one point had this marked as a rare day one purchase and who was scouring the news daily for any more info about it.
I'm just so turned off by everything that happened with it, I've mentally checked out - there are so many other games deserving of my time that Cyberpunk is just not relevant to me anymore.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Once I hear some news on how this runs, it might be time to dive back in and actually play the full game!
It's a PC game at this point and there is actually nothing wrong with that but it should never of been announced for PS4 and Xbox One.
No patch is going to work miracles. All that time fixing Ps4 and xbox one should of been dedicated to creating the best optimised PS5/XBS/X version.
I was one of those people who had this pre ordered and there's definitly a cool game in there somewhere but it isn't on consoles currently in my opinion. I would rather drive round for example in GTA, the mechanics are far better and it handles much better.
Local shops here have it now for 28 €. I decided to buy it, even if it is only playable at PS5 at the end of the year for me it will still be worth this price.
Nevermind optimization problems fixed I aint gonna be swayed by Panam's ass into thinking its a good game.Massive disappointment.It felt old and didnt give vibes that trailers and stuff portrayed.Customization sucked and never seeing character anyways.Cops are worst thing ever and thought they will be the best.Game aint complete crap but im annoyed when i am remembered of it so yes a disappointment in one word i would describe it.Their unique Witcher world made me think they would do something drastically better than this.They should forget expansions and move on imo.
Improvement to the base game will be good. I'm waiting now to play the paid DLC when the PS5 version is available. Hopefully they make a simple way to port the save game between versions 🤔
It is most certainly a buggy game. I have experienced multiple crashes in my ten hours of gameplay, which is why I stopped playing until this patch gets released.
However, at least they are working to fix the issues. I still can't complete my playthrough of fallout 4 because the whole game is now in neon colours and has become unplayable. I still can't finish rage 2 because I jumped into the endgame vehicle before I was supposed to and now it won't let me play the final mission. At least the developers have accepted the issues and are working tirelessly to create what I expect will become an incredible release.
@Divergent95 I definitely care, as do others, clearly. Personally I have been waiting for the next patch to finish the game; but truth, I have enjoyed it immensely up until now. There is a fantastic game hidden under all of the bugs and hater-fanboy-launch-media-disaster BS.
@Futureshark totally agree. IF it ever gets on PS5 and optimized for it... I'll consider it. If not, kinda dont care anymore. So much else to play
Great googly moogly those notes are massive 😳
What a long and glorious read that was! These guys have been busy! Can't wait to jump back in!
I've got just four games installed on my PS4 and it's full. RDR2, AC Valhalla, AC Odyssey and Cyberpunk 2077. Madness!
They dropped the price by a fiver just before release....they knew something was wrong..........at the very least People will not touch this Company with a barge pole at most you would have to be pretty stwpid to buy any game from this Company pre release.....Lessons learnt me thinks 🤖
If this keeps up, gonna need an entire SSD just for Cyberpunk.
Regardless, I'm happy they're fixing it. If the release hadn't been rushed, this could have easily been a fantastic game. Underneath the bugs and glitches hides a really good game!
I've platinum'd it, experienced the diff finales and then uninstalled it - will pick it up again when new story content and a proper ps5 upgrade is released.
@Samba3 ...Panams ass is the best though 🤪
@Divergent95 I thought the side quests were great. The Rivers storyline was really good and so was the Kerry one. You had a lot of choices that led to which of the endings you got so I don’t agree with you on those issues.
@KingPev
Agree with you, it's one of the best games I've played.
Too bad the game is fundamentally bad.
@Ear_wiG So right.
@orson you are wrong.
Does anyone know the total GB the game takes up after the new update? I’m curious how it compares to Call Of Duty
@Waffles12415 I think it'll be the same size if it follows the previous updates. They seem to replace the old files with new ones. You do need the extra space to initially download the update though, which is a bit annoying.
Downloading the patch right now. 3 hours, that's a lot of patch. They could have walked away from this, but they haven't. Some of you seem so wounded you'll never forgive them anyway. It's too bad for some of you who won't end up giving the game a chance. There's a great game hidden here.
@LordSteev
I'm waiting for a gamepass drop
@LordSteev he's probably not even played it
@TrueAssassin86x
Gamepass seems like a great deal, almost too good to be true. I can't wait till I can find an X to try it out for myself.
@KingPev
I do believe you're on to something here!
These lazy nerds dont know what hard work is and it shows.
@HuJack007 That's absurd.
@Col_McCafferty I'm right there with you.
Maybe if they pay me i think i can play that game. If dat ***** dont drop on ps plus i will never play that garbage
@LordSteev it is all sunshine and rainbows until the inevitable future subscription price hike (à la Netflix)...
@rpg2000
You're right, but from my understanding of all it includes, a price hike wouldn't be completely unjustified, maybe. If they really intend to include all AAA games on it, it seems to me like it would still be a great deal even if they double the price. I just don't understand how they plan to sustain it over the long haul.
Damn, that is a big update. Still, I'll be waiting for the PS5 update before I crack open my copy.
@Divergent95 I don't think there's a fundamental design flaw in the game, it's just buggy as hell. I bought the game on launch, but at this point I'm waiting for the PS5 port until I play through the game in earnest. Every patch they put out is just good news for gamers.
🤔 Yeah, the management team at CDPR had absolutely no idea the game wasn't ready for release...sure!!! 🤣
So this is what the game should’ve launched as
Haven't had any issues on PS4 so far
@LordSteev I will not be happy if they price hike GP. It’s borderline just right price for me. There’s tons of games on there but most are a pile of garbage from the 360 days you’ll never play, however there are a lot of games worth playing too. A slight concern is if they price hike and I don’t continue paying then I’ll have a series x with nothing to play on it. I’m thinking that’s the model they’re going for.
Would be a shame as GP is great for me right now and wouldn’t want it to change.
I’ve played this game on and off on the ps5 since release and never had any major issues. It was definitely very buggy but nothing game breaking. Certainly anyone who says the game is ‘fundamentally bad’ is completely misguided, it’s got a vision and it’ll get there...look at No Mans Sky now 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve updated the game today and it just seems to be much more polished...I’m just interested to know, from PS4 users who have downloaded the patch, what their experience of it is now? Has it improved much?
@OneManDroid skyrim etc was in a worse state. its still playable
Too late, imo. Majority of people I know in person and online completed the game and got their refunds on console. Maybe PC players will enjoy this more
@LordSteev Negative, you are just wearing rose tinted glasses and/or a fanboy who is afraid to admit when they see flaws.
@StonyKL
I feel you. I'd never advocate for a price hike, myself. It's just starting to look like MS is gobbling up the kind of games I like to play. I love Bethesda, at least back when they concentrated on single player games, and I'm hearing all their games are getting released free on GP. If that happens, those games alone would justify the subscription cost for me. Throw in all the other developers under the Zenimax umbrella, such as Obsidian, Arkane, id, Machine Games, etc. Then add some of the other development houses they've scooped up like InExile, and you've got a large pool of what I consider essential gaming right there. I wouldn't want a price hike, but for the games I like, this sounds like the best deal in gaming.
@orson
Negative. You probably haven't spent 5 hours in a game that takes 200 hours to complete. There is so much cool goodness in this game that only reveals itself after hours of play. You just make a lame blanket statement and act like your word is fact. Whose lap are you sitting on in the bandwagon?
@solocapers i see i friend of mine mentioned to me that The Witcher 3 was in a buggy state as you mentioned, before he recieved some patchs.
